Hey, Chloë here!
So, I’m a little late to the party, but I finished Twilight, and let me tell you, I’m SO glad I finally read it and am excited to share my book review of Twilight with you! I know, where have I been, right? I had never picked up the book before last month, and I’ve only seen the movies (which, are iconic in their own ways). But you know what they say: books are always better than the movies! Spoiler alert: this one absolutely proves that statement true.
it’s hard to get out of that mindset of “I’ve seen this already” and just enjoy the book for what it is instead of comparing it to the movie. But I gave it a shot, and wow, was I surprised. The book turned out to be such a fresh experience that I ended up loving Twilight even more than I already did from the movies. So let’s dive in to my book review of Twilight!
A Little Bit About Twilight
For anyone who somehow missed out on Twilight, here’s the gist: it’s a love story between Bella, who’s just moved to the small, town of Forks, Washington, and Edward a brooding boy who happens to be. a vampire. What starts as a typical high school crush soon turns into something far more complicated, filled with danger, and of course—lots of twists. The book dives into themes of forbidden love, identity, and how far you’d go to protect someone you care about. It’s got that angsty teen vibe, but with a vampiric twist that’s equal parts thrilling and romantic.
The dynamics between the characters are captivating, and while there’s the usual “will they/won’t they” tension of a teenage love story, the supernatural elements add a darker, more mysterious vibe. Bella, despite her awkwardness and self-doubt, becomes completely enmeshed in Edward’s world, where secrets are as dangerous as they are enticing.
Rating the Story of Twilight (1-10)
- Plot (10/10)
I’m giving this one a 10! Yes, the pacing can be slow in the start where they are trying to progress forward, but nothing unbearable. it had me completely hooked and found myself totally engaged, even through the slower bits (especially with my attention span!). It kept me on my toes, and I just loved the emotional depth and tension between Bella and Edward. It’s a love story that’s equal parts swoon-worthy and intense, and it was easy for me to be swept up in all the supernatural drama. - Writing (10/10)
Okay, I’m giving this a 10 as well. The writing, while simple at times, totally served the story. I could really feel Bella’s internal conflict and the intensity of her relationship with Edward as well as relating to her as someone who goes through moments of feeling like life is kinda just dragging on. It’s the kind of writing that’s addictive, I couldn’t put the book down.

- Interest Level (10/10)
Yup, 10’s across the board. It’s hard not to be obsessed with this book. Who knows I may be biased since I was already so into the movies before reading the books (who isn’t?), but I honestly don’t care. I loved the drama, the danger, and especially the emotional tension. Again, I struggle with reading books after I’ve already seen the movie adaptation, but Twilight was different. This is a clean sweep—the one and only time I’m giving a book a perfect 10 across the board. It really just had me hooked from beginning to end. Even though I knew the basic outline of the story, I was still hanging on every word. It felt like Twilight was something entirely new, and I couldn’t get enough.

Final Thoughts of The Review
So, yeah, I’m officially a Twilight fan now, and I can’t believe I waited so long to read it! I know I’ve given this book all 10s, and honestly, I don’t think I’ll be doing that too often. But this is one of those rare cases where everything just clicked for me—despite a few awkward moments. If you’re into love stories, mysterious vampires, and jaw-dropping plot twists, this book is so worth the read. There’s a reason Twilight has such a devoted following, and after reading it, I’m definitely part of that crowd.
Thanks for being interested in my Book review of Twilight! Stay tuned because I’ll be reviewing the Twilight movies and other books in the saga soon! I can’t wait to dive into the films and see how they compare to the books. Will the iconic moments hold up? I’m excited to find out!
